What Worked?
During my development/production work I had encounter different animation skills and techniques which helped create one of my biggest shot animation up to date using the Rayman rig made by Jordanimate. During summer I didn't quiet have a goal in mind when perusing my role of a shot animator in the film industry, since most of the animations I have done over the summer were merely tests and animations I wanted to make using the rigs and appropriate reference I had found.
After displaying my work to the class in a presentation, I had received feedback from my peers and tutors regarding the sector I should go for which fitted the animations I had done so far over the summer. The games industry said one of my tutors will be the perfect place for me as a shot animator do develop my animation skills and body mechanics, so for starters I research the roles and positions the game industry offered a shot animator as myself and I was surprised to see a lot of open jobs regarding the role I wanted to apply for but required some additional requirements such as working on a AAA game experience or even using Unreal Engine which is something I have always wanted to try out.
Firstly I wanted to animate game-ready or a videogame character to start with and so I came across the Rayman rig and started producing multiple animation shots such multiple punches attack, idle and the best one combining he's Rayman Legends run animation I took reference from and mixed it with an attack he hadn't done before which lead to an amazing shot piece when combined.
What could you have done better?
To enhance my work, I could delve into the export options available in Unreal Engine. However, I currently lack the knowledge and starting point to do so effectively, and it may be somewhat unrealistic given my current skill level. Nonetheless, I aspire to attain the proficiency necessary to seamlessly integrate my animations into Unreal Engine.
The production time for my animations could have been significantly shortened if I had access to a more powerful computer capable of handling Maya efficiently. Looking ahead, I plan to invest in a robust computer that can fully support Maya and Unreal Engine, allowing me to work comfortably from home or any future location post-graduation.
